Glossary

The word the law uses, the word people use, and the word somebody types into a search box. A cell that has not been read off a published text says so rather than guessing.

The everyday term and the search term are written in English only so far. They are not read off a published text, they are what people actually say, so somebody who speaks the language supplies them rather than this page.

Three rows are the working vocabulary of this trade rather than the Regulation's. They carry no article, and no term in another language is offered for them.

A glossary tells you what a word means in the text. It does not tell you how a court or an authority has applied it, which is what the Handbook record is for.

Where each column was read from

Norway is not a Member State, so there is no Norwegian text on EUR-Lex. The Regulation applies there through the EEA Agreement, and the Norwegian column is read from the Act that gives it effect, filled for the Article 4 definitions and left to be confirmed elsewhere.
